What does BenchSlate do?

BenchSlate is a mobile app for coaches to score players at tryouts against a weighted rubric and see ranked results right at the field or on the ice.

Who is it for?

Volunteer and paid coaches, league coordinators, convenors and league boards in any sport, from baseball to hockey, football to soccer.

How does weighted scoring work?

You decide how much each skill counts. Give hitting 40%, fielding 35% and running 25%, score each player, and BenchSlate turns those scores into one weighted total and a ranked list. Change a weight later and the ranking updates.

Can I bring in my player list?

Yes. Import it from Excel or CSV, or add players by hand.

Can I use my own rubric?

Yes. Start from a sample or a blank rubric, and set your own skills, scales and weights.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Every score and note is saved on the phone as you enter it, so scoring, results and export all work with no signal.

Can several coaches score the same tryout?

Not yet. It’s planned, and a date isn’t confirmed.

Is the Android app available now?

BenchSlate is Android first and coming soon to Google Play. Email info@benchslate.app to try it early.

What about iPhone?

iPhone is coming. A release date isn’t confirmed yet.

What will it cost?

Price coming soon. Free and Paid details are still to be confirmed. The Pricing page will show them when they’re ready.

Do I need an account?

Yes, to keep your tryouts. Sign in with your email, Google, or Apple (coming soon), and everything is backed up and synced between your phones. To look around first, try the demo.

How is player data handled?

You’re in control. Player details are backed up to your account when you sign in, and only you can see them. We collect nothing you didn’t type or import. Delete your account in the app and everything stored online goes with it, and the tryouts on that phone too. Trying the demo saves nothing. See the Privacy page.

Who makes BenchSlate?
